Recommendations
The LoRaWAN protocol doesn't have any vulnerabilities reported, but its implementation is critical. A bad implementation can lead to a denial of service in some cases.
Watteco is following the recommendation of the LoRa Alliance regarding security and has a secured platform to deliver the keys to its clients (either through distribution or direct). No information linked to the security of the device is available either on a paper or in a QRCode.
The LoRaWAN protocol has 2 methods to activate an end device on the network:
- ABP (Activation By Personalization)
- OTAA (Over The Air Activation)
Even though Watteco supports both methods of connection, use of the ABP method is not recommended anymore.
